Kim Goodwin-Wheatle is a psychosexual trainee therapist devoted to providing an empathic and authentic setting where her clients feel safe and accepted for how they feel. She aims to support clients to attain a clearer understanding of their cognitive/emotional process, in the belief that self-awareness leads to self-healing. Professionally, a background in HR provides a basis for Kim’s interest and experience with conflict resolution, she understands how life stressors lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms which can impact on the sexual self. Kim’s integrative therapeutic approach utilities theory and tools from various modalities enabling her to provide a tailored approach best suited to the individual/couple, her primary modalities are Transactional Analysis, Person Centered and Attachment Theory.

Kim offers specialist relationship and psychosexual therapy for couples and individuals experiencing intimacy and sexual difficulties both physical and emotional in nature, such as: non-consummation, infidelity, low sexual desire, orgasm issues, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, vaginal pain, etc. Sexual difficulties are often uncomfortable to talk about and can have far reaching impact on other areas of life – her approach is to offer a safe, sexually affirmative space in which to support individuals/couples to develop more effective bonds and communication. Her approach recognises the importance of cultural differences and diversity in the helping relationship with respect to gender, sexuality and ethnicity.

Kim is in her final year of training on the London Diploma in Psychosexual & Relationship Therapy, has completed the London Foundation Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy and is a member of both COSRT and NCP. Kim works with The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham.
