Lesley Williams provides a safe space where the client will receive empathy and support. She treats the client as the unique individual that they are and ensures the approach she uses fits the client. Lesley works in the therapeutic setting by integrating mindfulness, behavioural and experiential dynamic therapy. Mindfulness creates awareness and gives our attention of experiences occurring in the present moment. She guides the client’s attention to be able to face emotions and not to run away using experiential techniques. Lesley believes we can retrain our brain to think in a different way which will lead to a new way of being.
Lesley’s purpose is to assess where the client is currently situated in their life and assist them in moving towards their goals. She guides the client towards an awareness of themselves so they can address their issues and move on to create better relationships with self and others.
With a background in customer services Lesley is used to working with people to reach a shared outcome. Previously, she worked in the fashion industry and so is creative when working experientially. Lesley explores body-language, enabling the client to have a greater awareness of themselves. She has a keen interest in anxiety and depression and has volunteered on a mental health helpline since 2017, supporting adults with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.
Lesley is working towards an advanced diploma in integrative counselling, and is registered with the BACP. She works on an open-ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
