Lucy Fry is an integrative and transpersonal counsellor and is registered with the BACP. She has a Foundation Certificate in the Psychotherapeutic Arts and experience working with various art forms (e.g. painting, drama, sandtray and music) to enhance self-expression and facilitate emotional growth and healing. Lucy sees clients on an open-ended basis with the low cost counselling service at The Awareness Centre in Tooting and is working towards a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Lucy aims to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can process trauma and painful feelings, and be supported in exploring their behaviours and beliefs so that they can live a more conscious, unrestricted life. Her training is both integrative and transpersonal, which means that she can draw on a range of approaches to suit each individual whilst also keeping in mind some of the more spiritual aspects of self. She believes that whilst therapy often requires us to look back and examine the past, it can also make space for a reconfiguration of priorities, becoming an important part of creating an expansive and colourful future.
Having worked for over a decade as a journalist and author, Lucy has experience of some typical conflicts faced by writers and other creatives. She understands the difficulties of trying to balance dreams with responsibilities, creativity with money-making, and that the pressure to conform and/or excel can often lead to burnout whilst also stifling vitality and fulfilment. Lucy has also worked in the fitness industry and recognises some of the current distortions around health and fitness leading to excessive exercise and body image issues. She has experience with addiction and eating disorders, attachment problems, sexuality and LGBTQ families, depression and anxiety.
