Marco Antunes believes that at times when we experience our life journey as being confusing, difficult and challenging, we may suddenly find ourselves in need of a safe and confidential space with someone to truly listen to us with empathy, acceptance and a non-judgemental attitude. Marco is committed to developing a fruitful and therapeutic working alliance with clients in order to help them to explore and make sense of their thoughts, inner feelings and their basic emotional needs.

He will support them in achieving greater insight by having a deeper understanding of how they might be processing their life experiences in the present based on beliefs and influences from the past. The aim is always to facilitate change through exploring the client’s own view of the world.

Marco has always loved working with people and his background as a teacher for more than fifteen years has contributed immensely to his desire to become a counsellor.

As a therapist Marco works in an integrative and flexible style, applying different humanistic approaches such as Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred Approach, Gestalt, Psychodynamic Approach and CBT, which will be explored, taking in consideration what suits each client.

Marco is currently working towards an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic-Integrative Counselling. He is a student member of the BACP and works with The Awareness Centre’s Low-Cost Counselling Service in Clapham.
