Maria Regis is a qualified integrative counsellor with a B.Sc. Counselling Hons degree. She is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and is working towards her accreditation. As an integrative counsellor, she is able to draw from different techniques that work for different clients at different times. Maria works in private practice at The Awareness Centre’s Tooting and Clapham branches.
Maria has had the opportunity to work with various different charities as a volunteer counsellor to gain some of her experiences, as well as working with Anxiety UK to help clients with Anxiety disorder. She has experience working with clients who have suffered the following: bereavement & loss, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, depression, enduring mental health and work related issues.
She is available as a private therapist at both the Clapham, and Tooting Awareness Centres. Her work centres around the clients needs, as she works with clients in a collaborative way to establish a therapeutic relationship, where the clients feel secure and held to explore their feelings about their world in a non-judgemental space where being empathic is genuine and key to the clients exploration. Maria believes that being able to guide someone to self-help is very rewarding; She works collaboratively with the clients to identify strategies that help clients and also psycho-educate them where appropriate, which is important to the clients’ re-building and recovery to a place of wellbeing. She understands that it may be difficult to share deep and personal issues with a stranger, however, with a therapeutic relationship, there are no judgements, and confidentiality is essential.
Maria adheres to the BACP Codes of Ethics.
