Maria Svoronou believes everyday stress, anxiety and worry can lead one to difficult places. Through a safe and confidential environment one can address these issues and construct meaning around intricate and challenging experiences. Taking the first step, and asking for help is a significant step toward reflecting, understanding and thinking about one’s internal world.
Over the years, Maria has seen service users with several issues, including depression, anxiety, bereavement, panic attacks, workplace issues, low self esteem, abuse, gambling issues and eating disorders. In a confidential space, Maria aims to facilitate a journey of self exploration, by understanding, within a psychodynamic framework, how the past and unconscious processes inform the present situation. She can also practice in Greek.
Maria is a counsellor and psychotherapist working in Private Practice at the Awareness Centre in Tooting; she is both a member of the BPS and the BACP and abides to their ethical and deontological framework; she holds a Bsc in Psychology and an MA in Psychodynamic Therapy. She is also currently working in the NHS, where she sees patients for long term psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Maria offers therapy in English and Greek.
