Marie is trained using the integrative counselling model, meaning she can tailor her work to the client’s needs in several ways. Marie’s primary approach to working with clients is person-centred, where she believes the client is the expert in navigating and finding solutions to their issues. Marie offers a space of empathy, warmth, authenticity and confidentiality within which the client, can make sense of their selves and their relationships together in which a client can heal and grow. Marie works with individuals facing challenges that include anxiety, depression and relationship problems. She is aware that it can be difficult for individuals to express and open up how they truly feel. As there is a fear of being judged and rejected by others. However, Marie knows when a person is allowed to voice their deepest feelings and be understood, positive change can be achieved.

Marie has worked for many years in the field of domestic abuse and has seen how this can affect families on a mental and emotional level. Where those who have been traumatized by abuse, in some cases, have led clients to alcohol and drug addiction. Working with clients in this area has given Marie the experience of understanding and supporting clients in overcoming these obstacles. Marie has gained a deep understanding of a variety of diversities; this has broadened her capacity to support and understand people from different backgrounds and cultures. She has helped clients break free from negative thought patterns that have stopped individuals from achieving their full potential by exploring their past and present experiences to enable clients to view their world from a different perspective.

Marie is a counsellor working towards her level 4 Diploma in Counselling, She is a registered member of the BACP and works in the Lambeth counselling service.
