Melanie Baldeo is an integrative counsellor working with clients to focus on their needs and the best way to facilitate them. Melanie treats each client as a unique, important, individual, offering a warm, safe environment to explore their difficulties and challenges they can face in daily life and relationships. Using empathy and drawing upon a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques to assist the individual client’s needs, she works with them at their own pace, exploring emotions and behaviours, helping the client to work on using their strengths and abilities and look at their discomforts and challenges that are hard to face.
Prior to training as a counsellor, Melanie has experience of working in social housing working with single parent families, young people, people with disabilities and vulnerable people that experienced issues such as emotional distress, working through financial difficulties and providing them with services to help. Melanie assisted them with their housing needs and provided support in various areas including anti-social behaviour. What became clear, it was so many people need support and someone to talk to when life can seem extremely tough at times, and Melanie wanted to help where she could and provide that support when people feel lost and isolated.
Melanie is a qualified integrative counsellor with a BSc Honours degree in Counselling and a member of the BACP. With previous experience of working young adults and children in a primary school setting, Melanie also works with adults short-term at a surgery in NHS Wandsworth working with a variety of client issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, post traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence and bereavement.
Melanie works in private practice at the Tooting and Clapham branches of The Awareness Centre.
