Melissa Carey believes that counselling is a safe place for you to explore the parts of your life you may be having difficulty with. It is her goal to offer you the right conditions so that you may walk this road together. It is her belief that the most important part of having therapy is being able to build a trusted relationship. Once the relationship has been formed, you can navigate the parts of your life you are having difficulty with. She believes it is important to always go at your own pace.
Melissa has extensive experience working at Drug & Alcohol Service where she learnt the addiction issues often link to underlying trauma experiences. This started her interest in trauma work. Melissa now works with the parents and guardians of sexually abused children, as well as her private practice. Melissa’s specialities lie in childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape, sexual violence and addiction and trauma.
Melissa is an experienced Humanistic Integrative counsellor and she uses integrative approach working with clients including: Mindfulness, CBT and Humanistic methods together to give the best results. She has undertaken further training in trauma, PTSD, childhood sexual abuse. She is a registered member of the BACP and NCS.
Melissa works in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Tooting.
