Michelle Pereira offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where clients can feel supported and heard.  She understands unexpected situations can trigger emotions which may feel strange and difficult to process, making life feel hard to navigate.  She feels counselling can enable clients to gain a greater understanding of themselves through processing difficult emotions and feelings.  Michelle believes by developing a trusting and strong relationship with her clients she is able to walk alongside them throughout their therapeutic journey.  Michelle uses an integrative approach, which incorporates a variety of modalities, all tailored to the client’s needs.  Michelle may use a humanistic model to focus on the client’s current difficulties and help them to fulfil their individual needs.  She may also adopt a psychodynamic approach to help the client explore their past which can influence their present behaviour.

Michelle’s background includes working within a prison environment, so she has extensive experience with anger, self-harm, conflict resolution, work related stress and anxiety.  She understands how unexpected situations can be difficult to process but feels talking about it can help the client to reconnect with themselves and regain autonomy.

Michelle is an integrative counsellor with a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.  Michelle is a registered member with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  Michelle is working at the Awareness Centre in Clapham as a private therapist and previously gained experience in the same setting as a student.
