Nalan Gurpinar provides a safe space so her clients can confidentially share their issues, which the knowledge that they will be fully heard and understood in an empathic manner. Nalan believes counselling helps her clients’ process difficult and challenging thoughts or feelings which can be painful; and she focuses on developing the potential of her clients. She works to identify and strengthen her client’s inner resources in order to enable them to live a fuller, more satisfying life. Nalan’s approach is integrative, drawing upon the person centred approach to help clients explore present experiences, thoughts and feelings combined with a psychodynamic approach to gain insight from her client’s past experiences, relational patterns thoughts and behaviours that maybe influencing their present world. She aims to help her clients understand and manage their relationships in a healthier way, always adapting her approach to best suit her client needs.
With a background as a family lawyer, legal adviser and coordinator for a legal advice charity, Nalan has great interest and experience in personal issues. She understands the internal and external pressures people can place on themselves that can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies. She works to identify healthier ways of managing emotions and stress. Her experience includes working with anxiety, depression, isolation and loneliness as well as bereavement and loss.
Nalan is currently working towards a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and is a registered BACP member. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Wandsworth counselling service.
