Naz Altinok works mainly with a psychodynamic approach but believes that every client is unique thus therapy should be tailored to each individual. She supports her clients by helping them find the connection between their past experiences from childhood and the present difficulties they may be facing. Naz aims to help her clients understand their feelings, which she believes will give rise to inner positive change and resolution. She believes a trusting therapeutic relationship is crucial for counselling to be beneficial. Sometimes relationships may be re-enacted in the therapeutic space and Naz aims to create a safe environment for this transference to take place. She strongly believes that every person’s story is important, and everyone deserves a space to talk. Naz provides a warm, empathetic and non-judgmental space for their clients to share their story and feel heard and seen for who they are.
Naz has experience supporting people with a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, panic attacks, sleeping problems, anger management, self-esteem, depression, racial identity, psychosexual issues, abuse, relationship and family difficulties. She is currently working with adults and children. Naz has lived in several countries and has come across many cultures. She understands the difficulties of adapting to new environments and situations, and desires to support you with these transitions.
Naz is a psychodynamic counsellor and is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). She works within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and is working towards her Masters in Counselling.
