Neesha Omar believes in the importance of providing a warm and safe environment that aims to allow an open, honest and non-judgmental space for the client to bring what is important to them. She is aware that life challenges and difficulties affect people in different ways, therefore she believes that it is paramount that this is acknowledged when working with clients by viewing each client as unique in their own way. Neesha uses a variety of approaches such as CBT, existential, humanistic however, she believes that when working with the client’s needs it is important to allow for flexibility. She believes that in exploring with the client in this way, it will allow the client to build in self awareness, confidence and empowerment.

Neesha has a background of several years of experience working within a variety of mental health settings, with individuals of diverse cultures and backgrounds. She has therapeutically supported individuals in crisis who have found it challenging and overwhelming to deal with different life situations, by exploring with the client to find positive coping strategies. In addition, she has worked with individuals who have presented with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicidal ideation and self harming. Neesha has a great interest in bereavement and loss, and addiction.

Neesha is a counselling psychology trainee and a registered member of The British Psychological Society. She is working towards a doctoral qualification in counselling psychology and psychotherapy. She is based at The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham.
