Olivia Phillips creates a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients as the foundation of the therapy process, a safe, confidential non-judgemental place. She then proceeds to work collaboratively with her clients to look at past behaviours to understand present behaviour and break patterns. Olivia’s approach is integrative so she draws on different approaches, always adapting to the client. She may use person centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy as well as transactional analysis, depending on the client and session. She also believes in the importance of the mind- body connection, particularly in relation to trauma, so will often make this a focus for clients with PTSD. Olivia believes she is a fantastic listener and provides a warm, professional and contained space in therapy, where the focus is always on being present and holding with her clients.
With a background in creative marketing in New York, London and Dublin, Olivia has an understanding of the stress of a demanding career and moving to new countries. She has recognised in her career the importance of creativity and collaboration to build relationships and reach a goal so her approach in the therapy room is always collaborative and explorative, especially with clients with addiction.
Olivia is an integrative psychotherapist and is registered with the BACP; she also holds a Masters in marketing and a BA in journalism. She works for The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service at a GP surgery in Lambeth. Olivia is in her final year of her advanced diploma in therapeutic psychotherapy with a keen interest in PTSD research.
Olivia offers therapy in English and Spanish.
