Patrizia Vadalà is a warm, easy to talk to, and empathic counsellor who takes care to establish a warm and trusting relationship with her clients from day one. She believes everyone’s experience is unique and important, and will provide you with a safe space and a sense of being held and understood, so that you will become increasingly able to explore your difficult feelings and any possible burdens, and finally to make sense of any emotional suffering you are experiencing.
Totally committed to her clients, Patrizia strives for their growth and empowerment, and to bring about long-lasting improvements to their well-being.
As a Gestalt Counsellor she integrates into her work elements of Mindfulness and breathing techniques to find the ways of regulating anxiety which work best for you. In her practice she draws mainly on Attachment-based approaches and on the latest researches in the field of neuroscience, that means she is able to help you understand yourself from many different perspectives including looking at your patterns of attachment to important people in your past and present life, and what neuroscience and the field of interpersonal neurobiology is able to tell us about how our brains are wired for both survival and relationship.
She supports clients in long-term open-ended practice and in short-term time-limited therapy, and has considerable experience helping clients dealing with depression, low mood, sense of loss, family or relationship problems, anxiety, sex, gender and sexuality issues, self-harm, concerns around work and career, self-esteem and self-worth issues. With a background in education, acting and marketing & PR, she can easily relate to issues with the creative profession such as managing stress and self-worth.
Patrizia has experience in working with the NHS, charities and schools, with clients from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, ages, ethnicities and sexual orientations and believes in the impact and importance of culture and ethnicity on everyone’s wellbeing.
She is a fully qualified Gestalt Counsellor and Psycho-Pedagogic Body Movement Practitioner (a method that gives great importance to the body-somatic experience in order to achieve a greater awareness), a registered member of the BACP and accredited with the CNCP, (National Council for Professional Counsellors). She periodically returns to her native country to deliver trainings and seminars, and as a Consultant to the Gestalt Centre in Genoa, in northern Italy. In addition Patrizia has specialist trainings in Attachment and Trauma focused therapy, Interpersonal neurobiology and has recently trained in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) a new psychodynamic approach which recognises how positive transformational moments in therapy can lead to profound change in remarkably short lengths of time.
Patrizia runs a private practice at The Awareness Centre in Tooting and Clapham and in other centres in Twickenham and Camden. She works in English and Italian.
