Phil has found that offering quality listening enables clients to be continually surprised with the progress that they can make.
Phil believes his interest in healthy wellbeing developed from an early age when his family was affected by a psychological trauma. Initially qualifying as a psychiatric nurse, he worked in various London hospitals including University College Hospital (UCH) and The Priory. Wanting to help people at a deeper level he moved into talking therapies. Three years after qualifying Phil went to work for one of the major mental health charities, managing one of their counselling services in West London. This then led onto further work in the charity sector.
More recently Phil has worked within the NHS offering brief solution focused therapy to hundreds of clients throughout the country. This has seen him making his skill set available to tackle a range of presenting issues.
Phil has a passionate interest in self – care and since the Grenfell tragedy (June 2017) has been teaching on this topic to firefighters.
Phil works as a full time mental health counsellor currently based in London and Devon. He holds a post graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. He is a Senior Accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Phil works in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Clapham and in Tooting.
