Philippa Madden is a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor and is registered as a clinical member of the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA). Philippa holds a BSc Degree in integrative psychotherapeutic counselling and a diploma in integrative clinical supervision of both groups and individuals. Philippa works in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Tooting.
Philippa provides a safe and confidential space for all her clients. Her aim is; through drawing on different approaches which are tailored to each client and through dialogue, reflection and exploration, to assist and accompany a person to work through and shift from any depressive or anxious thoughts or feelings. This therapeutic process helps a person to become more aware of themselves and to better understand where the roots of the issues might be coming from. Working together each session; through any painful or difficult feelings which may have become a stumbling block for positive change or development.
Philippa’s professional background is currently; and for the past 11 years, been in service management for psychological and counselling services for the charity ‘Mind’ and the ‘NHS’. She has also worked as a counsellor for many years. Her experience in being a counsellor and managing and supervising other counsellors, has helped develop her client work considerably and she is always looking at ways to develop and enhance her practice. Philippa specialises in working with symptoms of depression and anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress and feeling overwhelmed, abuse, feeling stuck, meaninglessness and hopelessness, self-harm and suicidal ideation.
