Raquel encourages a welcoming and secure therapeutic environment, providing empathy, comfort and creativity, enabling clients to learn and understand about themselves for them to make healthy and positive changes in how they respond to themselves, others and their surrounding environment, and reach their full potential.

To enable this, she encourages clients to explore their  issues  and the feelings behind them to move forwards and handle whatever is in their way. Raquel is a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor who practices an integrative approach combining a range of theories and styles to suit each individual.

Raquel’s professional background is in social work supporting a wide range of clients such as asylum seekers, survivors of rape, bullying and abuse, adults with anxiety, depression, work and relationship issues and learning disabilities. Raquel has substantial experience in supporting adults suffering from drug addiction and young mothers suffering from postnatal depression. Raquel’s dealings with her clients have given her a greater understanding of the difficulties faced in people’s everyday lives. She draws on this experience when working with her clients.

Raquel works in a private practice, The Awareness Centre, in Clapham where she offers time-limited and open-ended counselling. Her counselling placements include the NHS IAPT/Integrative services in Lambeth and Wandsworth.
