Rochelle Walker offers a non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment for her clients to be able to reflect on and work through difficult experiences, thoughts and feelings. Rochelle understands it can be difficult to express unspoken thoughts and feelings but believes that by doing so, invites the opportunity for self-healing and personal growth. Rochelle values the counsellor and client relationship and believes in building and developing a trusting relationship by supporting her client to explore and have a greater understanding of themselves, their experiences and relationships with others. Rochelle is an integrative counsellor which means she responds to her clients’ individual needs by using ideas from humanistic and psychodynamic theory. Rochelle believes that by working this way and allowing her clients to understand how their past experiences and relationships can have an impact on their patterns of behaviour and attachment to experiences and relationships in the present.
Rochelle comes from a multicultural background and values and respects diversity; she also understands the affects prejudice can have from her own personal experiences. Rochelle understands the importance of identity and self acceptance and how this can have an effect on our self-worth and the way we believe others to view us. Rochelle has a professional background working with children & education and is experienced in working with diverse backgrounds, abilities and family dynamics. Her background in childcare developed her knowledge in personal holistic development and how individuals form behaviour and attachment patterns from our early years. Rochelle also obtained an English degree and has experience working in corporate environments in the city, this experience allowed her to understand the pressures of work and professional dynamics and the impact they can have on individuals personal life and well-being.
Rochelle is an integrative counsellor and is registered with the BACP. She is currently working towards an advanced diploma in integrative counselling. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service in Lambeth.
