Roma Keane has a genuine interest in people and the ability to empathise. She understands we are individuals and we have different coping mechanisms. Roma allows her clients to feel comfortable and confident to share their feelings. Roma aims to work integratively using a variety of approaches to working through issues enabling her client to go on to living a much healthier, peaceful and accepting life. Roma uses Solution Focused therapy as well as Person Centred to assist her clients to examine, thoughts, experiences and negative behaviours to make changes and move forward in life.
Roma has worked in the care industry for 28 years, with children in care. These children had suffered from abuse and trauma. She worked with a palliative team for a while and learned invaluable experience listening to the feelings, of both the patient and family members. Later transferring to the elderly team, where many patients suffer with chronic pain, Dementia, and life threatening illness. Roma understands that there are often a feelings of isolation, loneliness, guilt, burden, as well as other emotions. Roma’s ability to acknowledge, and empathise lead to her interest in counselling, which allowed her to expand her knowledge and work with others to accept themselves and feelings without negativity.
Roma is a student Member of BACP and is working towards her Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, she is integratively trained. Using a range of skills and theories to assist her. She is adaptable to the presenting problem, believing in individuality. Integrative counselling provides a variety of tools and skill set to work with a variety of clients and their presenting issues. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service in Wandsworth.
