Ruth Culhane is a Relational Transactional Analyst who uses cognitive, behavioural and emotional based therapy to help clients reach their personal potential in an empathetic and collaborative way. Ruth recognises that everyone has the potential to live the life they want rather than the life they seem to be programmed to have and that change is possible for everyone. She is in the process of completing her Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and will begin working towards a Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy in 2019. She is registered with BACP and COSRT and works on an open-ended basis within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham.
Ruth Culhane’s approach is to build a relationship with her clients based on trust, empowerment and acceptance in order to help them to know themselves and support them in finding new and more creative and successful ways of resolving problems or crisis they may be experiencing. Ruth works in the here and now with each client to build a unique relationship which will serve to create a strong alliance to build self-responsibility and change. Ruth works in an informal and constructive manner, respecting struggles and complications faced by clients. Ruth believes that everyone is unique and will work in a way tailored to each person’s individual needs and personality.
Ruth had a long career as a Lawyer and is experienced in working with people in crisis and who are experiencing difficulties relating to work, depression and anxiety. Ruth has a special interest in life transitions and relationship difficulties and personal and professional re-orientation as well as difficulties around food.
