Ruth Richardson offers her clients a confidential, empathic and accepting space, in which she hopes clients will feel safe enough to examine any issues that are causing them discomfort. She understands that taking the step to see a counsellor may feel daunting. Ruth will offer her clients an opportunity to feel seen and heard for who they truly are. Through her collaborative work with her clients Ruth believes they will gain a deeper self-awareness and strengthen their own sense of self. She believes that this can lead to finding new perspectives, allowing clients to overcome problems and to find a more authentic way of living.
With a background in international Human Resources, Ruth has an interest and experience in workplace issues and conflict resolution. As an immigrant and having lived and worked in different countries, Ruth brings an awareness of cultural diversity to her work, as well as an awareness of the different issues and feelings, such as feelings of isolation and loss of identity, which may occur after having uprooted to a new environment. Ruth also has an interest in working with gender identity issues. A fluent German speaker, Ruth is comfortable working with clients in both English and German.
Ruth is a person-centred counsellor and is a member of the BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham. Ruth is currently working towards a BA (Hons) degree in Person-Centred Counselling.
