Sara Spaggiari offers a non-judgmental and safe space where emotions and traumatic events can be explored. She works with an integrative approach which means she utilises different types of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytical and Existential therapies. She thinks that one approach can’t ‘fit all’ and that each person comes with their unique history. For this reason, she tailors therapy to each individual’s specific needs by identifying their limits and resources. Sara strongly believes that with the right therapy and within the right circumstances anyone can get better. She believes in the power of change and thrives to help people to realise and reach their true potential. Empathy, respect and confidentiality are core elements in Sara’s approach, which aims at allowing individuals to feel safe, listened and understood. She also appreciates how cultural and background differences play such an important role in an individual’s life and provides a space where people can express themselves freely.
Sara has a BS and an MSc in Psychology, a certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy skills, and is currently working towards the obtainment of her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She has experience working with children in psychological and educational settings, adults with learning disabilities, and self-esteem related issues. She also has a particular interest for personality disorders, depression, anxiety and workplace issues.
Sara is a Counselling Psychologist in training, working with The Awareness Centre’s Low-Cost Counselling Service in Clapham, and is in the process of becoming a member of the British Psychology Society (BPS). She offers therapy in English, Italian and French.
