Sarah Demaree holds an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and has extensive experience in both the private and public sector. She is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and the United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis and is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. She currently works with individuals and couples in private practice at The Awareness Centre, Clapham.
Sarah’s work is focussed on helping her clients create real change in their lives, whether that is about addressing what is going on inside themselves or in their relations with other people, or both. She uses the widely accessible theories of Transactional Analysis (TA), such as ego states, psychological games, life scripts and emotional hungers to help her clients better understand themselves and other people. She also uses principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) so that she can adapt her approach to the individual needs of her clients.
Sarah works with clients struggling with relationships, addiction, bereavement, depression, anxiety including obsessive-compulsive disorder, stress, and adult survivors of childhood abuse. She also has specialist training in working with eating disorders, particularly overeating and binge eating. Sarah is keenly interested in new research looking at the role of nutrition in psychological disorders.
