Sarah Norris works in a well-balanced environment of understanding, and empathy with a non-judgemental approach. Sarah’s aim is to provide a safe and supportive environment of trust, so that you can truly be yourself. Whilst counselling may feel daunting for some, she believes that great awareness of one’s mind can give a more open state of being and that you become more attuned to your own feelings, thoughts and desires. Sarah draws on a psychodynamic and humanistic approach in Transactional Analysis; a personality theory for understanding human behaviour. She works with her clients in exploring and identify patterns of behaviour within an individual’s personality and how this has been shaped by experiences, particularly those stemming from childhood. Sarah believes that everyone is valuable and has the opportunity for improving self-awareness and has the capacity and ability to make new decisions. Her aim is to build a therapeutic relationship with her client to support positive change and personal growth.
Sarah has a background in the creative industry working with designers and clients. She understands the day to day pressures within an office environment, the everyday demands in life to get things right to please others and those unspoken expectations. She works on identifying certain behaviour patterns that may have come from early childhood which continue to play out in adulthood. She is interested in matters concerning bereavement and Cancer.
Sarah is a trainee and is working towards a Diploma in Transactional Analysis in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is registered with UKCP, UKATA, NCS and EATA. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham.
