Shanette Russell provides a caring and non-judgemental space where clients can feel safe and express their feelings and experiences in a private and confidential setting. She believes that clients can find the inner strength and power to heal themselves when they feel listened to, validated and accepted. Shanette uses an integrative approach to counselling, combining various aspects of different therapeutic approaches to suit the needs of her clients. She works with clients to identify patterns and behaviours that may be impacting on their ability to cope and maintain positive mental health. She draws upon the person-centred approach to help clients find their own solutions and gain a sense of control over the thoughts and feelings that are most troubling to them. She also incorporates the psycho-dynamic approach which involves looking at the client’s history and experiences that may provide further insight into where their issues and concerns may have stemmed from in the past.
Shanette has a background in the retail and customer services industry. Her desire to pursue a meaningful and rewarding career, centred upon helping people on a deeper level, led her to begin training as a counsellor. She specialises in relationships and life transitions and understands that life can present us with many unexpected challenges and problems which can take us off track, leaving us feeling stuck and uncertain about the future.
