Silviya Neykova is a qualified integrative counsellor. In her practice, she draws on person-centred theory, Cognitive-Behavioural therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Existential approaches. She believes that every client is unique in the way they experience the world and strives to provide a client-tailored approach to each client in an open, warm and non-judgmental manner. In her approach, she considers her clients to be the experts on their lives and aims at supporting them in uncovering their hidden resources and strengths, coping with difficult situations and experiences and developing solutions for their well-being. She believes that counselling is a collaborative process and that the therapeutic relationship plays a crucial role in the therapeutic outcome, therefore she aims at fostering and developing a trustful bond with her clients by creating a safe space and providing an empathic presence of full acceptance and unconditional positive regard. In such space her clients can begin to safely express and explore difficult feelings and thoughts and to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and how they relate to others and to the world. Counselling can be a transformative experience and can provide new “lenses” for looking at the self, the world and others.
Silvi has previously worked in a voluntary capacity with suicidal clients who have been through life crisis such as divorce or break-ups of significant relationships, loss of job, health conditions, bereavement, loss of meaning and loneliness. Silvi’s first degree is in International Relations and she holds a PG Cert of Psychology from UEL.
Silvi is a qualified counsellor and is a registered member of the BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low cost service in Tooting.
