Snezhana Slavkova offers a non-judgemental and confidential environment in which the clients feel safe to express and explore their feelings and thoughts. She helps them help themselves by finding and using their own strengths and inner resources to get through life difficulties. As an integrative trainee counsellor, she uses different counselling approaches to match the clients’ needs and to empower them to find their own ways to deal with their concerns and see the changes they want to see. She uses the person-centred approach to show acceptance and empathy and enable her clients to come to a better understanding of themselves and self-acceptance, and develop their potentials; she may use Transactional Analysis to help her clients become aware of the life-scripts they have been following and change them if needed; or CBT in assisting them to explore their thinking and behaving patterns, put them to the test and create new ones when necessary. Snezhana collaborates with and supports her clients in their journey from their current problems to the desired future.
For many years Snezhana worked as an interpreter. She has rich and invaluable experience working with different kinds of people, especially when they are at a low point in their lives due to physical, emotional, financial or other challenges. She has learned first-hand how healing it can be talking to someone who listens with understanding and empathy. She believes that everybody has talents and capabilities which, when recognised and used, can bring meaning and hope in one’s life.
Snezhana is a trainee integrative counsellor, working towards a Master in Integrative Counselling and Coaching. She is registered with the BACP and currently works within the Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service in Lambeth. She can offer sessions in both English and Bulgarian.
