Sohrab Honar works from a explorative and nonjudgmental approach towards the clients worldview. His view of therapy allows a flexible space for clients to find their own truths and values that they hold in relation to themselves and the world around them. This approach allows him to understand the ambitions and feelings that the individual finds meaning from, whilst gradually encouraging them to work through the more challenging aspects of their life. He also believes that a strong rapport between client and therapist is essential for change.
With previous experience from an undergraduate in Applied Psychology, Sohrab has learned about the topic from such approaches as Cognitive, Developmental and Humour Psychology. From his background in music Sohrab understand the importance that music holds in a person’s life and the benefits of music on psychological health. From working for a record label to playing in several bands, he also has experience in the music industry and insight into the stressors, passion and creative issues that come from working in a artistic field.
Sohrab is a trainee counsellor in his second year of a Doctoral Program in Counselling Psychology with the NSPC and he is a graduate member of the BPS. Sohrab Honar’s approach is based in Existential thought which explores ideas of freedom, responsibility and anxiety. Some of the influencers of Existential thought that he is interested in specifically are Sartre, Nietzsche and R.D. Lang. He works for The Awareness Centre’s Low Cost Counselling service in Clapham.
