Teresa Gil offers a warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental space to support and guide clients in a journey to wellbeing. Teresa will help clients tap into troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviours for exploration and healing. Teresa uses a person-centred and holistic approach to help clients access their own unique qualities and experience, inner strengths, and resources to gain self-awareness and resolve issues in their lives. Teresa will use psychodynamic therapy to unravel any deeper unconscious motivations that may be rooted in childhood or childhood trauma and the effects on current behaviour. Teresa may use simple mindfulness and breathing exercises to help the client relax and to compliment the therapy.
Teresa has varied working experience. She worked in the City and understands the pressures of office life, the strains of routine, formality and coping strategies that may accompany working life. Teresa works voluntarily as a Link worker with South London and Maudsley (NHS) offering opportunities for health, wellbeing, and practical and emotion support for people with more severe mental health disorders. Teresa is employed in the care profession aiding people suffering from dementia and other age-related disorders and works part-time in schools with autistic children. Teresa is an RHS qualified horticulturist and has used gardening as a tool for rehabilitation from physical and mental health problems. She has a special interest in Autistic Spectrum Disorder and tic disorders.
Teresa is an integrative counsellor working towards an advanced diploma. She is a BSc (Hons) in psychology and a registered member of both the British Psychological Society and the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
