Tobias Reinkemeier understands that seeking therapy can be daunting. He offers his clients a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where they can safely explore their thoughts and feelings. Working with his clients, Tobias helps them to make sense of who they are and to understand their worldview. His calm, accepting and empathic presence supports his clients through the process of gaining more self-awareness and self-understanding, which enables them to make more meaningful and authentic choices about how to live. By feeling accepted and understood in a genuine therapeutic relationship, he hopes his clients will be able to feel more self-acceptance and change the way they see themselves. Tobias works as an integrative practitioner; rather than focusing on one approach, he draws on a range of different theories to support his clients. His way of working is particularly informed by humanistic and existential theories, which share an emphasis on understanding human experience and a focus on the client rather than the symptom.
Tobias himself has been in long-term therapy and found it to be very helpful in navigating a difficult period of life transition. He has come to understand first hand just how beneficial greater levels of self-acceptance, self-awareness and self-understanding can be in order to live life more fully. This experience of being in therapy was what ultimately led him to train as a therapist, as he wants to offer other people the same opportunity that he had.
Tobias is an integrative therapist and a trainee member of the UKCP. He works with The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham. Tobias has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychotherapy & Counselling, and is currently working towards a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy. He offers therapy in English and German.
