Zohreh Azizi helps to empower clients by providing a safe and non-judgmental space to talk freely about their concerns. She believes that everyone has the ability to overcome issues and challenges through willingness for change, and readiness to take responsibility for their own life. Zohreh sees clients as respected human-beings who have endless potentials, and are able to resolve issues via awareness and exploring their inner thoughts and feelings.
Having the experience of working as a counsellor in different academic environments before moving to London, and her knowledge of psychology and psychotherapy have given her a deep understanding of basic human needs.
Because of her ethnic minority background, she is aware of cultural differences and specific challenges facing ethnic clients. As a relational Transactional Analyst, she is focused on building a therapeutic relationship with clients that is based on understanding, trust, respect and autonomy for the client. Zohreh’s holistic view about psychological and emotional difficulties allows her to view problems from different aspects such as personal, social and familial circumstances. This enables her to develop more empathy with clients. As a mother of two grown-up children, she is familiar with the human developmental process scientifically and experientially. She has an open, inclusive and non-judgmental attitude, empathic and active listening skills.
Zohreh received her BA degree in Psychology in 1989, andMSc in Social Research in 2005. She has since completed a number of short courses and certificates in Humanistic Counselling, and is currently studying in third year of Psychotherapeutic Counselling Diploma in Transactional Analysis. She is a graduate member of BPS, UKCP and IDTA. She currently works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service in Wandsworth.
