Aimee Cliff
Aimee Cliff is an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London, and has supported many adult and adolescent clients in low-cost counselling services across south London. Aimee currently works in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Clapham.
Aimee’s approach to therapy is all about building a trusting relationship based in empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. Her philosophy is that no matter what you’re facing in life, this can give you the foundation to work through it. She draws from several schools of talking therapy – primarily person-centred, psychodynamic, existentialist, and cognitive behavioural therapies – while always prioritising collaborative, reparative relationships.
Being an integrative therapist means that Aimee’s approach is flexible, and may look slightly different with each client. Most of her work involves talking, though if it’s the right fit for the client, she might try connecting with feelings through art or play.
With every client, Aimee’s practice is explicitly neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ-inclusive, and her approach to therapy is anti-oppressive and trauma-informed. She is informed by the principles of the neurodiversity and disability justice movements, and has a large amount of experience in working with clients on self-understanding and self-compassion as they navigate diagnoses and transitions related to neurodivergence, health, and disability.
She has supported many clients who want to talk about things such as: Anxiety and/or depression, Relationship issues, Trauma, Shame, LGBTQ+ identity, Disability and neurodivergence, Life transitions, Fears and phobias and Work stress.
