NHS Counselling, Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology in Wandsworth provided by The Awareness Centre

The Awareness Centre is contracted by the South West London and St Georges’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) to provide counselling to patients registered at GP surgeries in Wandsworth.

Counselling at GP surgeries in Wandsworth

To be referred to see an NHS counsellor, please make an appointment to see your GP or call Talk Wandsworth on 0203 513 6264. There is no fee for this service, and you will be offered up to 12 sessions. We provide weekly 50-minute confidential counselling sessions during GP opening hours Monday to Friday. Some Saturday and Sunday morning appointments are also available. For further details please view the self referral brochure.

When referring yourself for NHS counselling, you will initially be assessed on the phone by Talk Wandsworth before being allocated to a counsellor. The team will also gain your consent to contact your GP, who will receive some statistical information regarding the outcome of your counselling. In accordance with BACP ethical guidelines, confidentiality will be broken if there is risk of harm to yourself of others.

Our clinical practitioners can offer support for a wide range of issues, and use a number of approaches to therapy.
