Alex Pearlman is a counsellor in training, currently completing a Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre. Alex is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works from an integrative, person-centred approach tailored to the individual needs of each client. He currently works as part of a multidisciplinary team within a well-established primary and secondary care treatment centre in London, where he provides both individual and group therapy.

Alex places strong importance on the therapeutic relationship, viewing empathy, collaboration and trust as central to supporting clients through meaningful change and growth. While Alex has a particular specialism, working primarily to help clients through alcohol and drug addiction, his clinical experience extends across a wide range of presenting issues. He regularly supports clients experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and relational difficulties, including challenges within family, friendships and intimate relationships. Alex’s integrative, person-centred approach offers a non-judgemental and supportive space in which clients can explore difficult thoughts, emotions and patterns of behaviour. His work has enabled him to support individuals at different stages of recovery and emotional wellbeing, both through individual counselling and therapeutic group work.

Alongside his professional training and clinical work, Alex brings a strong understanding of the transformational benefits of the counselling process, informed by his own lived experience of addiction and recovery. He has been in recovery himself for seven years, which contributes to his compassionate and grounded approach, allowing him to connect authentically with clients while guiding them through their own therapeutic journey. Prior to his current role, Alex worked and volunteered within the community, supporting other recovering addicts and engaging in peer-led recovery environments. This breadth of experience allows him to work with sensitivity and respect for each client’s unique circumstances, supporting them in developing insight, resilience and self-compassion as they work towards improved emotional wellbeing and stability.
