Amal Abdullah’s therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on Person-Centred, psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) modalities to offer a tailored, compassionate space for each client. At the heart of Amal’s work is the Person-Centred approach, which ensures she meets clients with unconditional positive regard, empathy and authenticity. This creates a safe and therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard and accepted. From a psychodynamic perspective, Amal supports clients in exploring unconscious patterns, unresolved conflicts, and early relational experiences that may be influencing their current emotional world. Additionally, she incorporates CBT techniques to help clients recognise and challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, while also equipping them with practical tools for everyday coping and personal growth. What makes her approach unique is her ability to integrate these modalities in a flexible, client led way, always attuned to each individual’s specific needs and pace. She believes in honouring her clients lived experience and empowering them through insight and self-awareness.

Amal’s previous work in NHS acute inpatient Mental Health Services involved supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and self-esteem issues. This has strongly influenced her practice. Through this experience, she developed a deep understanding of the complexities people face and built the capacity to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds. this allows her to offer both emotional sensitivity and practical insight in the therapeutic space.

Amal is an integrative trainee counsellor and is a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She works within The Awareness Centre NHS Counselling Service in Lambeth and is actively working towards accreditation.
