Ana Carneiro is a trainee integrative counsellor studying at The Awareness Centre and practicing with NHS Talking Therapies in Wandsworth. She is a BACP registered student member and works with clients from a wide range of backgrounds who are experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties associated with significant life changes. Ana’s integrative approach draws on person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential perspectives, allowing her to adapt her way of working to each client’s individual experiences, needs, and goals. She supports clients navigating challenges including sudden change, loss, work-related stress, anxiety, illness, displacement, and major life transitions. Ana is committed to providing a confidential, safe, and non-judgemental space where clients can reflect on their experiences, develop greater self-understanding, and explore pathways towards resilience and personal growth.

Ana’s approach is humanistic, relational, and collaborative, with a strong belief that each person has their own capacity for growth and the ability to find balance within the complexities of life. She recognises that experiences of change, uncertainty, and adversity can affect people in different ways and works alongside clients to explore what feels meaningful and important to them. Drawing on person-centred principles, Ana prioritises empathy, acceptance, and the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel genuinely heard and respected. Her use of psychodynamic and existential approaches allows space to explore how past experiences, personal values, identity, and life circumstances may influence the present. Ana supports clients through self-reflection and exploration, helping them develop greater awareness of themselves and their choices while moving towards change at a pace that feels manageable.

Before training as a counsellor, Ana developed an extensive corporate career in technical leadership within the energy industry, working across Europe, North and South America, and Africa. Her experience included international roles, frequent travel, and offshore placements, giving her a broad understanding of diverse cultures, workplace pressures, professional expectations, and the impact these can have on emotional wellbeing. Her own multicultural background, together with her experience as an IAG advisor and through her online coaching and mentoring practice, has strengthened her ability to connect with people from varied backgrounds and perspectives. Ana has a particular interest in supporting clients experiencing work-related stress, anxiety, life transitions, identity challenges, and the emotional impact of significant change. Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, she brings cultural awareness, warmth, and curiosity to her therapeutic work, creating an inclusive space where clients can explore their experiences and develop a stronger sense of balance and direction.
