  • Guilt & Shame

  • Self-esteem

Bertha Okpara’s therapeutic approach draws from humanistic, psychodynamic, and CBT modalities, allowing her to work flexibly and collaboratively with each client. She offers a warm, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace. Her aim is not to fix or offer quick solutions, but to walk alongside clients as they grow in self-awareness, develop emotional regulation, and begin to make sense of their inner world. She believes the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change and works relationally, supporting clients to feel safe, heard, and empowered. Together, you’ll explore what matters to you, make space for both the difficult and the hopeful, and begin to uncover new ways of relating to yourself and others. Her work is also shaped by an understanding of how identity, culture, and systemic inequalities can affect our mental health and the stories we carry.

Before training as a therapist, she worked across healthcare, education, and the charity sector, including roles supporting young people, students and adults. These experiences continue to shape her compassionate, culturally aware, and person-centred way of working. She is committed to holding space for all identities and experiences and practices through an intersectional lens. Whatever brings you to therapy, she aims to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and able to grow in a way that feels true to you.

Bertha is a trainee integrative psychotherapist currently working within the NHS Counselling Service – Sutton. She is studying towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Bertha works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Sutton service.
