Christina Young is passionate about helping clients build emotional resilience, improve self-esteem, and develop healthier coping strategies. She values the therapeutic relationship as a key part of healing and strives to create an environment of trust, warmth, and non-judgment where clients feel truly heard and supported. Christina’s main modality is psychodynamic therapy, which means she explores how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence present thoughts, emotions, and relationships. She provides a safe, reflective space where clients can explore their difficulties at their own pace. Christina believes in the importance of self-awareness in creating meaningful change and works collaboratively with clients to uncover underlying patterns that may be holding them back. While her approach is primarily psychodynamic, she also integrates elements of other therapeutic models to meet the unique needs of each client.

With a background of over 25 years in the NHS, working in a GP practice, Christina has extensive experience supporting patients through a wide range of physical and emotional challenges. She has a particular interest in trauma and the impact it has on mental health and well-being. Her experience within the healthcare system has given her a deep understanding of the pressures people face and the importance of compassionate, accessible support.

Christina Young is an integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s counselling service and provides therapy in the Sutton NHS service. Christina is currently working towards a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, developing her skills in supporting a range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
