Delicia’s integrative approach provides a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental space, allowing clients to freely share and explore their experiences—a space where they can be seen, heard, and understood. Together with clients, the goal is to create a collaborative partnership where they feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgement. This approach allows Delicia the flexibility to blend various methods and techniques to meet each client’s unique needs. Delicia’s practice draws on different therapeutic approaches: Psychodynamic (which helps clients gain insight into unconscious patterns affecting their present); Person-Centred (a client-led approach that supports growth through empathy and unconditional positive regard); and Transactional Analysis (which helps clients understand communication and relationship dynamics). While life brings both rewards and challenges, difficult moments can sometimes obscure clients’ abilities and resources to overcome obstacles.

With over twenty years of experience in social work, Delicia has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with unique challenges. She is committed to social justice and advocates for individuals to have a voice, be respected, and valued, regardless of their backgrounds. Focused on child care and protection, Delicia has worked with numerous families in the UK and overseas. This experience has fostered respect and humility for those she has worked alongside in difficult situations, including loss, abuse, mental health issues, substance misuse, and involvement with the criminal justice system. Through these experiences, Delicia has developed a profound respect for individuals facing adversity and those who possess the resilience to overcome challenges. She believes in empowering individuals to recognise their own abilities and self-worth.

Delicia Thomas is an Integrative Counsellor and a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is currently pursuing a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and adheres to the BACP Ethical Framework. Delicia is on clinical placement with The Awareness Centre’s NHS Lambeth Counselling Service.
