Iain Spooner provides a safe, supportive space for clients to explore life’s challenges and difficulties. He believes that everyone deserves to be heard and seen, free from judgement, and able to express themselves on their own terms. Iain draws on  Person-Centered and Psychodynamic theories and has a background in mindfulness practices. His approach is to work side by side with clients, exploring where they may be stuck in the present with anxious feelings and unhelpful thoughts. This may involve looking at past experiences and current patterns of relating with the world and how these often intersect. The goal of the therapy is for the client to become their own best guide to living a good life. The person-centered approach believes this inner wisdom is within all of us. We may just need help sometimes in uncovering it.

Iain has a background in Yoga and Meditation. He is a qualified Yoga teacher and has many years experience in meditation, mindfulness and body-work. He has lived and traveled in many countries and cultures and has  experience of difficult life transitions, including addiction, illness and homelessness. Iain works with a leading HIV charity and facilitates groups and support for a very diverse range of people – including ( but not limited to ) LGBTQ+ people, Heterosexual men and women and people from other cultures and countries who have settled in the UK. These experiences have helped him cultivate an open-minded and respectful approach to whatever you may bring to the therapy.

Iain is an integrative student counsellor and is a member of the BACP. He works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Lambeth counselling service. Iain is currently working towards his diploma in integrative counselling.
