Jacqueline Hylton
Jacqueline Hylton is an Integrative Counsellor and works in private practice at The Awareness Centre (TAC) Tooting. She is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) having graduated from Kingston College. Jacqueline also attended courses at the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR). She worked in the Low Cost Counselling Service at The Awareness Centre (TAC) Clapham and also for the NHS IAPT Service. Jacqueline works face to face in Tooting and also has availability for online and telephone sessions. Every session is 50 minutes and will usually take place at the same time and day on a weekly basis. Jacqueline offers both short term and open-ended therapy to suit the client’s needs. Sessions are reviewed every 6 weeks to enable the reflection on the value of continuing the work.
Mental pain can stem from numerous causes and manifests in different ways. Jacqueline believes that everyone at some point in their lives can benefit from non-judgemental support to navigates life’s challenges. She encourages people who have never engaged in counselling before to take that important brave step. Jacqueline offers a free 20-minute telephone consultation to explore the reasons for seeking counselling, how counselling might help and how the sessions will work. Most importantly this is an opportunity to see if client and therapist are a good fit. A day and time to meet will also be discussed
Jacqueline offers a private and confidential space to allow for the articulation of thoughts and feelings and to make sense of them. It is often useful to explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It can also be helpful to focus on both the present moment and past experiences and their impact on us. Jacqueline takes a person centred approach to counselling and tailors her practice according to the needs and concerns of her clients. She works collaboratively towards an outcome where clients can benefit from more self comfort, certainty and personal satisfaction.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Jackie, who made me feel at ease for my first session. I found her a great help and a good listener who guided me through some really tough times. Helping me to make sense of how I was feeling and a way forward which was a great help.
I started my therapy sessions with Jackie in June 2023 after going through a toxic breakup. Initially, I went to therapy to help me heal from my breakup, but I found that the more I was attending sessions, the more I realised I had a lot of emotional turmoil and unhealed generational trauma I needed to work on.
Jackie was patient with me, she listened and helped me compartmentalise what was happening and helped me look at it in a different lens. Since stopping therapy with Jackie, I react better to my triggers, I’ve gained a new sense of confidence and I know what is important to me and what I should focus on. Thank you for everything, Jackie.
My time spent with Jackie as my therapist was so beneficial to me, as she helped me through many obstacles and provided me with tools in which to face things head on.
I found myself feeling extremely different to how I was when I started working with Jackie, and still reflect on my sessions with her now almost a year after our final session. I would highly recommend Jackie and The Awareness Centre!
