Karin Lindgren
Karin Lindgren is a BACP accredited integrative therapist with a BA and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, working in private practice at The Awareness Centre in Clapham offering therapy to individuals and people in all kinds of relationships. She has also been awarded a diploma in CBT, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is training to become a Mindfulness teacher (MBSR).
Karin is a warm and empathetic therapist, committed to providing a safe and confidential space where she is supporting clients gaining better understanding of their own thoughts, feelings and behaviour without fear of being judged. She believes that by building a trusting relationship, clients will feel listened to and be able to explore and understand their concerns and situation better. She helps her clients develop new coping strategies and tools, which enables them to move towards greater self-awareness, self-esteem and self-worth leading to a more fulfilled and autonomous life.
Karin’s approach is integrative, which means that she will draw from different modalities, such as person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT. This makes the therapy experience unique and led by the clients’ individual needs. She may use the person-centred approach to create a space for the client to experience their feelings and the psychodynamic approach to help them to understand how the past influences the here and now. She is also using elements from CBT to challenge automatic negative thoughts and to help clients move away from self-debilitating beliefs. She will also integrate Mindfulness exercises to help clients feel relaxed in the session.
Karin is aware of the difficulties that every day life can cause and has particular interest in communication, relationships and self-confidence issues. After working many years as a project manager and constantly having to meet deadlines, she has good insight into work related stress. She understands the internal and external pressure people can put on themselves, which can lead to both unhelpful and damaging coping strategies.
Karin offers sessions either in person or on Zoom, where clients can freely explore all aspects of their life. She has experience of working with anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, postnatal depression, body dysmorphic disorder, ADHD, illness, intrusive thoughts, OCD, substance abuse, relationship problems and childhood trauma. She also has experience working with people feeling stuck in their creative process and has helped them to reconnect with their joy and passion.
