Karin Lindgren is a warm and empathetic counsellor, thriving to provide a safe and confidential space where she is supporting clients to gain a better understanding of their thoughts, feelings and behaviour without fear of being judged. She believes that by building a trusting relationship the client will feel listened to and be able to explore and understand their concerns and situation better. Karin’s approach is integrative which means that she uses different techniques and approaches depending on the client’s needs. She may use person-centred approach to create a space for the client to experience their feelings and psychodynamic approach to understand how the past influences here and now. She believes that we all have inner resources to deal with our problems, but sometimes we need someone that can help us create the right environment for gaining insight and for personal growth.
Karin is aware of the difficulties that every day life can cause and has particular interest in stress, relationships and self-confidence issues. After working many years as project manager and constantly having to meet deadlines, she has good insight into work related stress. She understands the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to both unhelpful and damaging coping strategies. Karin also has a deep understanding and interest in postnatal depression, parental issues and health anxiety.
Karin is an integrative counsellor working towards a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and she is a student member of BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service in Wandsworth.
