In following the person-centred approach, Katie Dunn puts the needs and welfare of her clients right at the core of the work they do alongside each other. Her goal is to help clients to build their own understanding of the way they view the world, and how they came to see it that way; through greater self awareness and acceptance they can grow and move forward in their lives. Person-centred therapy is ‘non-directive’ – led by the client, and what they need and want to explore. Katie believes you’re the expert in your own thoughts and feelings, and that in working together to unpack what is happening for you, real, meaningful change is possible.

With a background in the civil service, Katie has always been interested in understanding the needs of others and working to make life better for all. She has worked as a Mental Health First Aider for her full time employer for many years, and understands the challenges that the workplace can bring, whether through stress and pressure, or conflict with colleagues. She has also been a long term volunteer with Samaritans and has supported callers experiencing a range of distressing life events; she has seen first hand how valuable conversations about the challenges life brings can be.

Katie is a trainee person-centred counsellor in The Awareness Centre’s Wandsworth NHS Counselling Service, and is working towards completion of a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She is a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
