Maria Malafeeva
Maria Malafeeva is an integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She works within the low-cost counselling service at The Awareness Centre in Clapham and is currently completing an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
Maria supports people experiencing stress, anxiety, isolation, loss, relationship difficulties, low self-worth and life transitions. She is especially attuned to people who are highly sensitive or who feel easily overwhelmed, and works gently and steadily to help clients understand themselves more deeply and find their way forward. Her approach is warm, relational and non-judgemental.
Maria integrates person-centred therapy with somatic awareness and psychodynamic understanding. She listens carefully, reflects thoughtfully and supports clients in exploring feelings, patterns and inner conflicts. Maria offers a calm and compassionate presence, creating a space where clients can feel heard, understood and emotionally safe. This can help rebuild inner stability, strengthen self-worth and support a deeper connection with one’s inner voice. Maria also understands how it feels to navigate questions of belonging, identity and change. Having a background in business, she recognises how responsibilities, pressure and life transitions can affect emotional wellbeing.
Maria has lived in several countries and values working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. She has also provided mental health support for Russian-speaking clients.
