Maya Zaremba
Maya Zaremba is a psychotherapist trainee registered with the UKCP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham, and is currently working towards an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy.
Maya’s therapeutic approach is grounded in Humanistic principles and combines elements of Gestalt, Person-Centred, and Transactional Analysis. She believes that therapy is most effective when clients feel truly seen, understood, and accepted, and she strives to create a supportive and collaborative space in which this can happen. At the same time, she recognises that growth sometimes requires gentle challenge, and she works with clients to explore areas where change may be possible or necessary. Drawing on body awareness, dialogue, and reflection, Maya helps clients connect more fully with their present experiences and inner resources. By weaving together different Humanistic perspectives, she supports individuals in recognising recurring relational patterns, strengthening self-awareness, and moving towards a more authentic and meaningful way of living. Her own background as an expat and her experience of career transitions inform her work, giving her a broad and multicultural perspective that can be particularly valuable for clients navigating questions of identity, belonging, and change.
Before training as a therapist, Maya worked in client services within the advertising industry, managing accounts for some of the world’s largest blue-chip brands as part of global holding companies. This experience exposed her to the demands of high-pressure, fast-paced corporate environments, as well as the challenges of balancing intense professional responsibilities with personal wellbeing. It also deepened her interest in the ways that stress, burnout, and workplace dynamics can affect people’s mental health and relationships. She has particular therapeutic interests in working with clients around relationships, immigration, blended cultural backgrounds, work stress, and burnout, and she brings empathy, curiosity, and commitment to each therapeutic relationship.
