Nazmiye Yolcu adopts an integrative approach, drawing on psychodynamic, person-centred, and anti-oppressive approaches to support each client’s unique therapeutic journey. She creates a warm, reflective, and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe to explore difficult thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. Her practice is informed by a deep sensitivity to issues of identity, faith, culture, gender, and power, and she works collaboratively to help clients gain insight, resilience, and agency in their lives. She has a particular interest in working with self-esteem issues, family dynamics, bereavement and loss, and anger, and tailors her approach to the individual needs and pace of each client. She is passionate about making therapy accessible and meaningful for people from all backgrounds.

Nazmiye brings with her a broad and rich professional background. She has led a grassroots charity supporting vulnerable women and families and has also worked as a consultant in the corporate financial sector. These experiences have deepened her understanding of stress, conflict, and the emotional toll of navigating complex personal and professional roles. As a multilingual therapist, she is able to connect with clients across cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Her lived experience informs her empathic and socially aware approach to therapy. She is particularly committed to culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive practice, and believes in the power of therapy to create healing and transformation through authentic human connection.

Nazmiye is a trainee psychotherapist working within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service at Wandsworth. She is currently working towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
