Richard Paul
Richard Paul is an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP. Working within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost therapy service at Clapham, Richard is currently taking an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
Richard draws on a range of approaches in order to help clients explore their thoughts and emotions in a safe, judgement-free and confidential space. Through compassionate listening and empathic curiosity, Richard works alongside clients, helping them gently open up their understanding of the events, feelings and processes that have brought them to counselling. It is Richard’s core belief that strong, enduring relationships are central to the success of counselling. For this reason, he does not offer short term solutions, or rush his clients; therapy can be taken at your own pace.
Richard sees the therapy room as a safe space to test our understanding, communication and relationship skills – and a place to better understand the interactions and events which affect our lives in the outside world.
As an integrative counsellor, Richard does not use a one-size-fits all treatment with clients. Rather, he adapts the therapy so that his clients receive an experience tailored to their unique needs, personalities, and ways of communicating. With a background in education and the arts, Richard is open to creative perspectives, strategies and approaches in the therapy room. He is particularly interested in how our experiences of music and the visual arts interface with emotions, memories, and altering perspectives of the world.
Richard is interested in working with neurodiversity, bereavement, addiction, anxiety, and depression.
