Juliet Skidelsky works with clients using an integrative approach, grounded primarily in person-centred theory. At the heart of her work is a belief in the client’s innate capacity for growth and self-understanding when offered a therapeutic relationship that is safe, accepting and non-judgemental. Juliet places great importance on building a trusting alliance, offering empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard to support clients in exploring their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace. Juliet also draws on additional theoretical models where appropriate to meet the individual needs of each client. This allows her to adapt her work thoughtfully, recognising that no single way of working suits everyone. Juliet also has an interest in the mind–body connection and may invite gentle awareness of bodily sensations where helpful, seeing the body as a source of insight into emotional states and wellbeing. She works collaboratively with clients, responding to what emerges in the room rather than following a fixed framework.

Juliet brings valuable experience from a background in primary school teaching which has given her a strong understanding of emotional development, communication and the importance of creating safe, supportive environments. Her work with children and families with diverse needs has enhanced her ability to listen attentively and adapt her approach with sensitivity, curiosity and care. Alongside this, Juliet holds an MSc in Psychosocial Studies and has a particular interest in childhood experiences and attachment styles and how these can influence patterns of relating and emotional responses later in life. She specialises in anxiety, self-esteem, relationships and family issues.

Juliet Skidelsky is an integrative counsellor within the NHS online service in Wandsworth. Juliet is currently working towards a diploma in integrative counselling and is registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
